The weekly presser of Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kan'ani was held at the 35th Tehran International Book Fair at the Grand Mosalla mosque of Tehran.
Referring to India's long-term agreement with Iran, Kanگani said that, "A good implementation process is underway between the two countries; Chabahar port is an important transit and commercial center whose potential serves the interests of countries that are interested in using the capacities of Iranian ports."
"Iran and India are willing to establish their cooperation including economic cooperation without paying attention to the unilateral US sanctions against independent countries. Naturally, the agreement between Iran and India is made with India's understanding of the nature of illegal American sanctions and that is not the case only with India," the Iranian spokesman said.
"India is one of the countries that is trying to implement the agreement with Iran regardless of the US sanctions," added Kan'ani.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Kan'ani referred to the Zionist regime's prolonged war and crimes in Gaza, and said that Iran has taken various actions in different fields in order to defend Palestine.
One of the measures taken regarding Palestine is the opening of the virtual embassy of this country in the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he said, adding the Islamic Republic of Iran has taken various measures in different political, legal and international fields.
Regarding Iran's ties with regional members, he said, "The development of bilateral relations with the neighboring and Arab countries and the creation of a positive and constructive atmosphere in bilateral and multilateral dialogues with the neighboring countries and the Persian Gulf states requires additional steps to be taken to improve the level of multilateral cooperation."
Creating a safe environment for the countries of the region is an important and priority issue for Iran, he stressed.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Kan'ani referred to the recent visit paid by the head of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region Nechervan Barzani to Tehran.
The development of comprehensive and constructive relations with neighboring countries is among the fundamental policies of Iran, he said, adding that Iran attaches great importance to Iraq in this regard.
The relations between Iran and the Iraqi Kurdistan have been friendly for a long time and there are deep ties between the two sides, the Iranian diplomat said.
Standing against the ISIL terrorist group in Iraq was one of the other issues of the joint cooperation between the two sides, he said, adding that in this trip, the two sides held explicit consultations and positive discussions regarding this issue.
"When it comes to the security of the common borders of Iran and Iraq, we will not allow any insecurity and we will fight against any insecurity," he stressed.
Mr. Barzani also announced that the Iraqi Kurdistan region adheres to the provisions of the Iran-Iraq security agreement, Kan'ani said.
